Journal of Microbiology (JM) announces a new guideline regarding the category of Microbial Systematics and Evolutionary Microbiology, effective from June 1, 2018, as follows:It is necessary to provide genome sequencing data with descriptions of novel taxa and determine an overall genome relatedness index, such as average nucleotide identity (ANI), between genomes of the putative new taxon and the closest relatives.
